Who will Congress field in Amethi and Raebareli? Candidates to be finalised today

The Congress top brass will finalise the party’s candidates for Amethi, Raebareli and other remaining constituencies for the ongoing Lok Sabha polls on Saturday.

Chaired by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, the party’s Central Election Committee will meet on Saturday evening to discuss the candidates.

Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi are likely to contest from Amethi and Raebareli respectively.

Rahul had lost the 2019 elections in Amethi to Smriti Irani while Raebareli was previously held by Sonia Gandhi who is now in Rajya Sabha.

Rahul contested from Amethi for the first time in 2004 when he defeated BJP’s Chandra Prakash Mishra. In 2009, he beat BSP’s Ashish Shukla and in 2014, he claimed victory against Irani.
